NORTEK to supply fluids solutions for a large-scale modernization project by ArcelorMittal in Canada

Primetals Technologies has awarded NORTEK an order to supply all lubrication systems and certain contact water systems for the modernization of a wire rod mill at ArcelorMittal’s plant in Contrecoeur (Quebec, Canada). This ambitious upgrade by ArcelorMittal Long Products, which implies both the revamp of existing sections and the installation of new rolling stands, will increase by more than five times the capacity and productivity of the mill while reducing its environmental footprint.

Reliability of the lubrication and cooling solutions provided is crucial for the success of every mill-revamping project

We will design and manufacture all five oil circulation systems necessary for the modernization program, including two complete systems for the additional Morgan Rod Reducing/Sizing Mills that will be incorporated to the production line. The other three NORTEK systems will help revamp current lubrication equipment, enhancing its reliability and filtration capability. NORTEK will also supply three new oil dehydrators. Finally, regarding contact water, NORTEK will be responsible for the design and manufacturing of five waterbox valve skids, as well as the provision of other valves and control instruments.

NORTEK has a longstanding record of significant contributions to large-scale upgrading investments within the primary metals sector. Reliability of the lubrication and cooling solutions provided is crucial for the success of every mill-revamping process seeking greater productivity and higher output qualities.
